CSS Audit Philosophy and Tools

Our approach to auditing is built on our belief in practical, actionable improvements that genuinely elevate the quality of care. We don’t just audit for compliance; we audit to drive meaningful continuous improvement.

We have designed proprietary CSS Audit Tools to assist our auditing consultants to create Audit Review Reports that focus on the requirements of the Standards and to find evidence to either support the requirements in the Standards being compliant or various levels of non-compliance. The report then allows the aged care providers to work through key priorities and recommendations that the provider needs to implement in order to mitigate the gaps in care and services. The report key priorities and recommendations can also be placed into the Continuous Improvement Plan so that activities can be implemented and evidence can be generated so that the service can work towards compliance with the Standards.

Our consultants are nurses and industry professionals who are oversighted by nursing administrators. Our consultants have experience conducting audits for the regulator and therefore understand the complexities of the sector and stay up-to-date with evolving legislative and compliance requirements. Our auditing service covers a comprehensive range of elements to ensure an in-depth assessment:

• Audit Nurse Consultants: Each audit is conducted by qualified and experienced consultants with specific knowledge of aged care compliance.
• Time and Coverage: We dedicate sufficient review time for each Standard, ensuring detailed insights and thorough analysis. For example, for our audit on all Aged Care Quality Standards we roster two consultants (normally onsite) for two days and then two days each pre/post the audit to review evidence and create the Audit Review Report. We have two senior consultants review, quality assure and publish the Audit Review Report.
• Report with Tailored Requirements: Our consultants tailor their auditing and reports to meet the unique requirements of each care setting. For example, we can focus on high impact high prevalence clinical care during our document review. Refer to Audit Review Report Highlight Sample below.
• Older People Engagement: We prioritise older people’s perspectives by including older people (or representatives) interviews as part of our auditing process.
• Entry and Exit Meetings: We ensure your team is informed through structured entry and exit meetings to align the team on audit objectives, findings, and next steps with your team.

• Action Plan: Priorities and recommendations contained within an Action Plans format ready for your team to address identified areas for improvement.
